El Proyecto's WorkSource California (One Stop) Job Resource and Career
Service Center is located in the San Fernando Valley and is managed by
El Proyecto del Barrio Inc.
The Center’s Workforce Mission:
“Provide a system of comprehensive integrated resources that promote human
welfare and community economic development.
El Proyecto’s Workforce Division services over 5,000 individual
customers, and provides intensive job placement assistance and re-training
to more than 400 career seekers, and business staffing assistance to more
than 150 businesses annually.
El Proyecto WorkSource is one of 18 Certified City of Los Angeles
WIB-CDD/WDD agencies and recipient of the California Award for Performance
Excellence (CAPE) Prospector Award.
Overview of Workforce Serviced - 18 and Older Job/Career Seekers:
- Public access to Job Resource Services
- Labor Market Information, job and electronic job posting
- Job seeker use of computers, phones, related job search equipment
- Job seeker outreach, marketing, orientation regarding WIA eligibility
and services available through One-Stop System
- Conduct Job Readiness activities: skill assessment, skill development,
GED HS diploma, vocational and certified training.
- Provide Career Management assistance: Employment plan, career coaching,
supportive services, job search and placement assistance and job
retention follow-up
Assistance for Businesses & Employers:
- Develop target occupational recruitment
- Pre-screen applicants
- Establish pre-screened skill match candidate pool
- Provide businesses with staffing, HR assistance services
- Provide eligible employers with subsidized work experience or On-the-Job
Training qualified candidates/hires.
- Develop Occupational Sector Training Models and Projects
- Establish Pre-qualified candidate pool for target high growth occupational
sectors
- Provide business that are closing local company with transitional
assistance to laid off workforce at no cost to employer -
Rapid Response support
- Provide placed employees with Job Retention Assistance
Job Resource Self Directed Environment
El Proyecto's WorkSource Center provides job-seeking customers with
NO-COST self-directed and staff assisted services.
Self-directed services include:
- Customer driven so you can tailor your job search to your individual needs
- Computers with internet access, copiers and fax machines
- Hot jobs board and job clubs
- Labor market information
- Library resources
- Telephone services
- Unemployment insurance information
- Social, health and other service referrals so you can resolve challenges
that may deter you from finding or keeping a job
At El Proyecto's WorkSource Center, career seekers will also find services
that meet the needs of certain populations.
For example:
- Workers with Disabilities will find access to adaptive resources.
- Dislocated workers will find services for workers displaced due to
downsizing or other workplace events.
- Older workers, who are over 55 years young, will find services for
entering or re-entering the workforce.
- Veterans will find services tailored to meet their specific employment needs.
