Family Health Care Clinic - East L.A.

El Proyecto del Barrio's Family Health Care Clinic provides services to the underserved population in the greater East L.A. area. The Center provides a critical health link for the community. Last year, the clinic totaled more than 1,500 medical visits, with a total patient population of nearly 650 persons. More than 40 percent of the clinics patients are children. The vast majority of the clinic's patients had no other health care options in the local community, with 90 percent of the families living below 200% of the federal poverty level.

The Family Health Care Clinic-East L.A. provides a number of accessible and affordable health care services for the community through its Family Health Care Clinic, including Outpatient Medical Services, Family Practice Medical Services, Pediatric Medicine, Mobile Unit Mammography, Laboratory, Immunization Services.

In addition to the services provided at the clinic facility, El Proyecto del Barrio's Mobile Clinic has proven uniquely effective at extending the organization' outreach efforts throughout the community. The mobile clinic is fully licensed and consists of a primary health care team, including a physician assistant, registered nurse and medical assistant. The team delivers primary health care services at home-based childcare sites, childcare centers, Head Start sites and a variety of other locations. The mobile clinic will also offer dental screenings and children's dental services, which will assure improved dental access to children who previously had virtually no access to affordable dental care services

Since inception in 1971, El Proyecto has earned a reputation for excellence and providing "Esperanza" (hope) to the community. For more than three decades El Proyecto has strived to expand and enhance the services provided to the community. Today the organization operates Family Health Care Clinics in the greater San Fernando Valley, San Gabriel Valley and East Los Angeles and serves an area covering more than 400 square miles. These clinics provide more than 70,000 annual medical encounters.
